Within the frame of subjective memories and somatic input shaping the reading process, the research team is hosting the international workshop "Connecting the Dots": Conceptualising "Trace" in the Nexus of Novels and Readers’ Sensory Imaginings in September 2020 online.
This workshop examines the interaction between trace and reading as facets of interpretive processes actively engaging the recipient in creative acts of sensory imagination. The concept of trace opens a host of conceptualizations and investigative opportunities in relation to readers’ visceral interaction with novels ranging from the Victorian era to Modernism to contemporary works. The workshop correspondingly places special emphasis on the connections between the materiality of trace on the one hand and the corporeal interaction of the reader and the novel on the other.
